The Wild Duck Cluster (M11)

About This Photograph

M11 is a rich cluster of stars, and we see it here set on a backdrop of countless other suns, ancient members of our Milky Way galaxy. Open clusters are classed separately from globular clusters, being more recently formed, and traveling along with the rest of the stars within the main disk of the galaxy.
