The Iris Nebula


About This Photograph

The dramatic Iris nebula lies in the constellation of Cepheus at a distance of about 1,400 light years. We see the gentle wisps of dust and gas mainly by reflection of light from the brilliant star within.

Camera:STL-11000XM.
Filters:SBIG standard RGB.
Dates/Times:16 July 2004.
Location:The Ranch of Many Prickly Things, near Segovia, Texas.
Exposure Details:LRGB = 150:30:20:40 minutes (10-minute individual exposures).
